That’s it. 2016 is now a memory. Done and dusted. How has this year flown by so quickly?
2016 has been my favourite year to date! Spent with incredible people and traveled to some unbelievable places , experiencing things I’ve only ever dreamed of.
Let’s take a look back on 2016 and my favourite moments!
I skydived 13,000ft over the Palm Jumeriah, viewed Dubai from above on a visit to the tallest building in the world; the Burj Khalifa, admired the famous and incredible beautiful Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, spent an evening at a desert safari, complete with dune racing, sand-boarding, camel riding, eating authentic food, belly dancing, falcon holding and shisha smoking, all in 10 days of exploring Dubai with a best friend as a personal tour guide – can you ask for a better trip?!
I volunteered at Glastonbury Festival, working backstage at the Acoustic Stage. My Grandma and her partner has volunteered for the past ten years, and my Uncle and Auntie have also started to volunteer. It was such an incredible experience, I met some awesome people, saw some incredible artists and spent a week camping in the ‘worst mud the festival has ever had‘, and best of all, I got to spend the experience it with family.
How many people can say they’ve been to Glastonbury Festival with their Grandma?
Myself and my boyfriend took ourselves away on a 5 day Paris trip over the August bank holiday. We stayed in a Airbnb studio apartment with the most amazing view on the Eiffel Tower and wandered the streets of Paris, falling more in love with every step.
We managed to squeeze in visits to the Louvre museum, Picasso museum, and Musée d’Orsay, we admired the inside of The Pantheon and Notre Dame, climbed to the top of the dome in Sacre Coer, took a visit to the eerie Catacombs of Paris, had a three-course lunch in the Eiffel Tower for his birthday, wandered through the Père Lachaise Cemetery, watched the sunset from the top of the Arc de Triomphe, took a short walk through Luxembourg Gardens and walked the entire East side of Paris along the abandoned railway, Petite Ceinture.
I had the most amazing time over the 5 days and we can’t wait to go back and explore more of the incredible city.
Tough Mudder, London South
There was group of 9 of us that took on the Tough Mudder challenge. I didn’t do any training and kinda regretted it when I realised that the 10 miles of running was mainly up hill.. Killer. We finished in just under 4 hours. Completely drenched through, covered in mud, electric shocked and exhausted, but had a sweet feeling of satisfaction. It was so much fun and I can’t wait for another one next year!
Prague, Czech Republic
December 2016 – January 2017
I’ve recently returned from an amazing few days away in Prague. There was 8 of us, spending five days exploring ‘like a local’ as my boyfriend is originally from the city. He took us to all of his favourite spots, allowing us the pleasure of escaping the busy tourist areas and appreciate Prague for what it is; Full of spectacular architecture and roof-top views, delicious food and drinks and an unforgettable New Year celebration in Old Town Square.
Thank you 2016 for being truly incredible.
I’m very excited to what 2017 will bring. I’m travelling to Adelaide, Australia with my family for a couple of weeks, with a few trips planned to Sydney, Byron Bay and Brisbane. The rest is a blank canvas.
What have you planned for 2017?
