Tenerife, Spain

Visiting Tenerife in August 2018 was a well needed relaxation holiday. We stayed in a gorgeous villa in situated in Golf las America in the Playa de las Americas area and spent a week living the slower pace of life; along with exploring the island.

Tenerife is Spain’s largest Canary Island and is home to Mount Teide; an active volcano that offers breath-taking scenery throughout the drive to the summit.

We did not manage to make it to the peak due to the queue being too long. However, you can pre-book tickets here to avoid long waiting times! Nonetheless, we still took our rental car and drove from Playa de las Americas to the Mount Teide summit and even now; I am still mesmerised by the alluring surroundings. View the time-lapse video and post; Road Trip to Mount Teide, here.

There is something I love about scorching sunshine and endless lazy river, which is why a visit to the islands water park; Siam Park was also on our list. We picked up tickets for €35 each, including lunch, which was pretty sweet considering we were there all day.

Along with the relaxation, we had to squeeze in a little adrenaline. We booked a buggy excursion with Top Buggy Adventure Tenerife. We arrived and had a five-minute introduction to the buggy we were driving, and we headed off. Driving through the town, along the coast and stopping along the way at multiple viewpoints.

We also escaped the crowds and hired a private boat; which took the six of us on an excursion that lasted three hours. Taking us all along the coast, which offered panoramic island views; stopping for a dolphin and whale watch on the way to Playa Puertito.

El Puertito village is a tiny seaside bay that mass tourism forgot and it offers a true escape from reality. We had enough time anchored up to snorkel in the bay and swam ashore to discover the hidden gems and houses that awaited nestled between the cliffs.
