5th May 2016.
There was a beautiful sunrise on the way to Gatwick Airport this morning and after months of waiting, I have finally boarded my flight, and the holiday excitement has kicked in that in 6 hours I will be in Dubai, soaking up the sun and culture whilst trying to take in the breathtaking views! … and of course not forgetting the fact that I get to be reunited with my best friend who, for the past two years has been working as a production assistant in Dubai.
Right now, it’s 14:10 GBT and I have a further 2 hours and 30 minutes left on my journey, meaning I will be landing at 20:00pm (local Dubai time)
Spending the time snacking on complimentary scones and fruit whilst staring into the unknown out of the window, being higher than the clouds somehow seems to make all problems disappear. The birds eye view of the gorgeous snow topped mountains below still blows my mind, no matter how many times I fly, it is incredible and so beautiful!
Travelling solo for the first time has taught me that spending the much needed quality time with yourself is very therapeutic, my mind and body are relaxed and I’m just staring, enjoying the beauty of nature listening to music – bliss.
As a dark cloud lined the sky, with an hour and fifty minutes to go I decided to put on a film and try to catch up on sleep, as leaving at four in the morning left me wanting a well needed nap! Film of choice was Alice in Wonderland, the 2010 version directed by Tim Burton. Luckily, on this journey I had not only a window seat but the whole row to myself, which makes things a whole lot easier instead of having to balance everything into a small tray! Awaking from my nap to find 50 minutes to go – so close now and incredibly excited!
After arriving quiet late, a quick dinner and drinks down a local restaurant for a well deserved catch up and now currently sat in the garden at 01:15AM in 32 degree Celsius!
Tomorrow – Abu Dhabi!
