Today, it was my best friends 22nd birthday and it is the first birthday we have spent together in years since holidays, travelling and moving to Dubai has always crossed our paths.
We woke up to a glorious 35 degrees at 10am and decided to open cards and presents outside to enjoy to morning sun. I picked up some champagne from duty-free on the way over and it was only right to have a champagne breakfast!
After celebrating the morning of being 22, we got ready and headed to iHop located in JBR for breakfast. I had the blueberry pancakes and they were way to big to even finish but they were so delicious!
A few hours on sunbathing and swimming is the clear blue seas, we went for lunch at Eat Greek. I definitely recommend having the Baked Feta Cheese, which is feta cheese covered in peppers, onion, tomatoes with chili oil and baked until golden, served with bread and a selection of oils – we ordered this to share along with a side salad and it was delicious!
Jumeirah Beach Residence also known as JBR is a large development located in Dubai which contains over 40 towers, 35 residential and 5 hotels.
The Walk at JBR is a 1.7-kilometre restaurant and shopping and beach strip, with enough choice to completely spoil you.
Walking around JBR promenade, I noticed a large amount of street art throughout the streets. They were all very detailed and definitely drew in attention! (See post Street Art – Dubai)
The streets are very beautiful and picturesque, with traditional architecture with a modern twist. Along the JBR strip, there is a large amount of art and murals, including this one below. It definitely adds a lot more character to the already charming community.
JBR is definitely worth the visit, we mainly visited the beautiful beach which has lovely warm clear blue waters and a view of the Burj Al Arab and the world famous hotel, The Atlantis in the background.
You can hire a sunbed for 195 AED for two people which is equivalent to £20.00 per person. When hiring the sunbeds, you also receive waiting service, which you can order snacks. meals and refreshing drinks which is incredible useful when the water turns very warm, very quickly!
That evening, we went to Maya, a modern Mexican restaurant – I went for the vegetarian fajitas and finished off with gin and tonic in the open rooftop bar, with the lit up skyline in the background! On Sundays, Maya do Senorita Sundays, allowing women to have three free drinks!
